A local school district is planning a unique signing ceremony Friday. Fifth grade band and orchestra students from Beloit’s Intermediate Schools will pledge their intent to be a part of district’s band and orchestra programs. District Director of Teaching, Learning, and Equity Theresa Morateck describes this an amazing and talented pipeline of 160 students expected to eventually be part of Beloit Memorial High School’s performing arts program. Morateck says art education has been shown to support academic success among students. She says Beloit is the only district in Rock County offering band and orchestra starting in the 5th grade.
