The redevelopment of the former Shopko store into a Hy-Vee grocery store with a bar/restaurant inside could be good news for the south side.
Janesville Economic Development Director Gale Price says Hy-Vee has been open to discussions about the south side.
Price says Hy-Vee has a smaller format store that would be perfect for the south side, and it’s his hope if the store on Humes Road works out, Hy-Vee may consider a second location.
Price says he’s been pushing the south side to every grocery store developer that’s looked at Janesville and Hy-Vee is the only one to continue discussions.
