A 31-year-old Beloit woman is dead and a 34-year-old Beloit man is in custody following a fatal shooting earlier this week.
According to a news release, Beloit Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Madison Road just after noon on Wednesday on the report that a person had been struck by gunfire.
First responders found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound and provided first aid until she was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
Anthony D. Richmond of Beloit was arrested on suspicion of first degree homicide with a domestic abuse enhancer in the incident, and possession of a stolen firearm.
