Changes are underway for one of Rock County’s colleges that may have more to offer than before. Blackhawk Technical College President Doctor Tracy Pierner says the UW Board of Regents approved them offering Associates of Arts and Science transfer degrees. Pierner says they’re working in collaboration with UW-Whitewater and UW-Whitewater at Rock County to offer the beginning of four-year pathways starting at Blackhawk Tech. He says they’re kind of moving into the community college direction, which most of the nation embraced in Wisconsin in the 70s. They’re doing what other states did and hope to raise the Bachelor’s attainment in the area which helps economic development. They have workforce gaps in that type of area along with stuff they do which is predominantly tech programs which include health and business fields.
