Authorities in Jefferson County are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred over the weekend.
According to a news release, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection of State Highway 16 and County Highway SC in the town of Ixonia just after 11:00 Saturday morning.
Preliminary investigation determined both vehicles were headed west on 16 when the first vehicle slowed and began to perform a U-turn in front of the second vehicle, and was struck on the driver’s side.
The driver of the first vehicle received fatal injuries and the driver of the second vehicle was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
