Beloit Memorial Basketball team honored by city

The Beloit Memorial Boys Basketball team was honored by the city council (Monday) night after the team faced alleged racist behavior at a playoff game earlier this month.

Council Member Markese Tyrell encouraged the team to not be discouraged by what they experienced that night, and to continue to provide leadership and display strong character.

Head Coach Todd Marks said the night was sad, tragic, and disturbing; but what came out of it was the courage, the strength, and the voice his team has and they are a representation of the Beloit community.

The incident remains under investigation by both the Beloit and Muskego school districts.
