DESCRIPTION:Demonstrations\, equipment\, and education will be the features of the July 30\, 2025\, Illinois Forage Expo. The event will be co-hosted by the Don Brown Farm and the Eric Stiegler Farm and held at Eric Stiegler’s Farm\, 9776 Il Route 75 E\, Davis\, Il\, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. \nNew equipment from various manufacturers will be on display and/or demonstrated during the daylong event. Factory representatives and local dealers will be on hand to answer questions about the equipment. Field demonstration of hay equipment will include mowing\, tedding\, raking\, baling\, silage chopping\, and bale wrapping. Commercial displays of forage related products and equipment will be found in the vendor’s tent. \nEducational presentations will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. \nAlso\, a Quality Hay & Haylage Contest will be available for producers to enter 2025 harvested hay and haylage bales. Entries in the Quality Hay & Haylage Contest must be delivered on site from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. There is no entry fee and NIRS analysis will be provided free of charge. Bales weighing over 100 pounds need an official scale weigh ticket. Four hay classes and one haylage class will be available and class winners will receive a certificate. Producers are limited to one entry per class. \nThere is no admission charge for the expo; food will be available for purchase on site. \nFor additional information concerning the Illinois Forage Expo call Don Brown at (815) 238-8372. \nThe Illinois Forage Expo is sponsored by the Northwestern Illinois Forage and Grasslands Council and the Illinois Forage and Grassland Council. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, August 2nd\, participants of all ages will have the opportunity to race or mosey through Skelly’s 6-acre sunflower field\, scenic nearby roads\, and strawberry beds\, with an apple cider donut waiting at the finish line. Well-behaved\, leashed dogs are welcome! \nEarly bird registration is only $35! Registration will increase to $40 on May 1st\, $45 on June 1st\, and $50 on July 1st. Not sure if you can commit just yet? No worries – day-of Registration will be just $60. Registration includes a race bib with time tracking\, admission to the sunflower field\, and an apple cider donut. Race T-shirts will be available for purchase for just $20 with proceeds benefiting HSSW’s mission of helping pets going home again. \nA significant portion of ticket sales will also benefit HSSW\, as well as $1 from every non-race participant sunflower field admission that day!
