Kayla Wood & Michelle Shope Breast Cancer Benefit

Kayla and Michelle are a mother/daughter duo who are fighting breast cancer together. (Kayla – daughter, Michelle – mother) Both are Beloit, WI natives. Michelle was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in May 2021. Kayla was diagnosed with the same invasive ductal carcinoma in June 2021 and later found a second tumor in July 2021. They both happened to find their lumps through self-examination. They went through chemotherapy treatment together for four months. Michelle had a lumpectomy in December 2021. She followed up with radiation in February/March 2022. She will have more reconstructive surgery in August 2022. Kayla had a double mastectomy with reconstruction at the end of February 2022. She will have more surgery to complete the reconstruction in May/June of 2022. They are both going through ongoing medical treatments to help prevent the cancer from returning.

We are working together, with the Rock Bar and Grill, and with the support of The Rock County Cancer Coalition, to host a benefit at The Rock Bar and Grill to raise any funds to help the financial burden for this mother/daughter duo. It is an event that will have a live music performance, a DJ at night, proceeds from food purchases, tshirt sales, basket raffles, 50/50 raffle, a volleyball tournament and a cornhole tournament tournament!
