State Representative Mark Spreitzer of Beloit says transgender students should be allowed to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with.
Republican lawmakers, Representative Jesse Kremer and Senator Steve Nass introduced a bill two weeks ago which would ban transgender students from using the bathroom of the gender they identify with.
Spreitzer says at least 60 school districts around the state including Janesville have already developed their own policies to protect their transgender students and this legislation undermines their work.
