The court finds that there is enough evidence to move forward with the case against a 33-year-old man accused of causing a fatal traffic accident in Beloit on January 22nd.

At his preliminary hearing (Tuesday) Beloit Police Officer Benjamin Belmontes testified that the speedometer on Chad Hummel’s vehicle was locked at 100 miles per hour when he ran a stop sign at West Grand Avenue and stuck another vehicle on Hackett Street.

82-year-old Eldon Bailey died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, and four other people including Hummel’s passenger were seriously injured.

Hummel is due back in court February 16th.
