A 30-year-old Beloit man is charged with first degree sexual assault of a child in Rock County Court.
Lee J. Schmidt was taken into custody Wednesday at a Janesville Motel.
According to the criminal complaint, Beloit Police were dispatched to a residence on the 1600 block of White Avenue just after 3:30 in the afternoon on March 6th on the report of a sexual assault.
A woman reported that she walked into the living room of her apartment to find Schmidt, who is her boyfriend, sexually assaulting her 10-year-old daughter on the couch. The woman said that Schmidt ran into one of the bedrooms, gathered some belongings, and sprinted out the front door a few minutes later.
The criminal complaint says that the little girl told her mother that it wasn’t the first time that Schmidt had assaulted her.
If convicted Schmidt faces up to 60 years in prison.
