A 31-year-old Beloit man is facing charges including Reckless Driving, Fleeing an Officer, and Operating after Suspension following a police chase overnight. Janesville police say they helped the Rock County Sheriff’s Office apprehend Mathew W. Harmel shortly after midnight Monday. Officers say Harmel led a deputy on a chase into the city on Afton Road. A Janesville officer picked up the chase near Rockport Road and South Chatham Street. The officer used a driving technique intended to swing the back end of the fleeing vehicle around, which eventually disabled it and allowed the arrest in the 2700 block of Woodlane Drive.
