Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree information sessions offered by University of Wisconsin-Rock County will be held Thursday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 29 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. in Hyatt Smith 120.

“This is an opportunity for those in the community who have associate degrees, either from Blackhawk and other technical colleges, or from UW-Rock County, to complete their degree without leaving the area,” said Karen Greenler, BAAS advisor.

The BAAS is designed as a completion degree for students who have completed a UW Colleges or other liberal arts associate degree. However, other students have also expressed interest. While some applicants already have an associate degree, others have college credits but have not yet earned an associate degree. These students may request a transcript evaluation to determine how they might be able to enroll in the BAAS program.

Overall, the BAAS concept and courses focus on cognitive skills, global studies, and professional experience with internship and service learning to prepare students for professional lives and careers. UW-Rock County students can also select from five optional concentrations of study: business; communication; community health and wellness; organizational leadership; and sustainability.

Of the 60 credits in the BAAS degree, 30 credits are offered through UW-Rock County and 30 credits are offered online through the six UW campuses that have partnered with the UW Colleges to provide this unique degree option for students across the state. In fall, 13 courses will be offered on UW-Rock County’s campus with a mix of daytime and evening hours.  More than 50 partner courses are available online.
