Storm rolls through Rock County

Early morning thunderstorms roll through southern Wisconsin.  Rock County Emergency Dispatch reports the most calls for downed trees came from the Evansville area.  More than 20 reports came in over the course of an hour around 2:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.   Several roads were reported blocked.  Janesville police say five trees were reported down with two taking power lines with them.  Public works was clearing two trees blocking roads about 4:00 a.m. on Woodman between Mount Zion and Newman, and Ravine between High and Academy.  Beloit police say a couple trees were reported down, but city workers had them cleared well before dawn.  Janesville fire officials say a lighting strike blew out the cement of a patio at a home on South Pontiac Street about 4:00 in the morning. The lightning apparently hit a pine tree and traveled through the patio and into the basement.  Alliant Energy reports as many as 2500 customers in Rock County were without power at the height of the storm.
