Fire officials were working Monday to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a home on County G near Blackhawk Technical College. Town of Beloit Fire Chief Gene Wright told a Gazette reporter the fire at 6128 County G was reported at 11:10 a.m. Monday. The roof collapsed, and the building is considered a total loss. Wright said the fire started on the home’s back side. Between a dozen and 15 fire departments fought the fire and had it “under control” by 12:30 p.m. The Town of Beloit Fire Department and Rock County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the cause of the fire, Wright said. The home was being renovated. No one was reported injured.
