Janesville’s police chief hands down discipline to a veteran officer, who was arrested on a charge of drunk driving in Arizona two months ago. Chief David Moore says the incident was concerning because Officer Chad Sullivan was on a recruiting assignment for the department. Sullivan will receive a 20 work-day suspension without pay. Moore says veteran Officer Brad Rau, who was with Sullivan, will also receive a 10 work-day suspension, because he should have known better than to have let Sullivan drive. Both officers will also attend alcohol assessment. Moore says he’s pleased both officers have agreed to public disclosure. Moore applauds Sullivan and Rau for their fine service while on duty in Janesville, which has included years of voluntary efforts on behalf of the department and community.
