Wheel tax becoming more popular

Owning a car in Milton will be a little more expensive next year.   The Milton City Council is turning to a wheel tax as a way to combat dwindling state transportation aid.  Council members argue the city’s roads are in decent condition, but it’s smarter and more cost-efficient to fix road before they become too deteriorated.  The fee will be $30 for all vehicles registered within the city.  The move is expected to generate $165 thousand in new revenue.
