A sixth-offense intoxicated driving conviction nets a 61-year-old Janesville man a two-year prison sentence. Janesville police say they arrested Verlan K. Shirley December 16th after the SUV he was driving was seen swerving on Black Bridge Road. Officers say Shirley could barley stand up, and his blood-alcohol level was later determined to be .34%. Shirley pleaded guilty as part of an agreement with prosecutors and did apologize to the court and community during sentencing Tuesday.
