The Wisconsin Wills for Heroes (WFH) program will visit Rock County to offer the preparation of wills and other basic estate planning documents at no charge for Beloit and Janesville police officers, firefighters and their spouses. Alliant Energy is coordinating the clinic, which will include company attorneys, as well as lawyers from Godfrey and Kahn.

The national WFH program was started shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks as a show of support for our country’s first responders. It has now expanded to several states, including Wisconsin, which launched its group in 2009. The state WFH program is sponsored by the State Bar of Wisconsin.

The WFH program is unlike many other clinic or pro bono legal programs because it brings the program directly to the first responders. Alliant Energy is grateful to Blackhawk Technical College for providing a space that is convenient for the participating first responders.  Working with department coordinators, the WFH program provides this free service by bringing together first responders with attorneys, notaries and witnesses.
The free clinic will take place November 9th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Blackhawk Technical College.
