Home invasion suspect pleads guilty

The 20-year-old former Janesville man who authorities believe was the mastermind behind a 2016 home invasion takes a plea deal in Rock County Court.

According to the criminal complaint, Sterling R. Olsen was at another location while masked, armed men entered a home on Harmony Drive, tied up the family who lived their, and robbed them. Olsen is accused of recruiting those involved in the robbery, and directing them by phone.

Olsen plead guilty Friday to a single county of party to armed robbery. In exchange, charges of party to the crimes of burglary, false imprisonment, theft, and criminal damage to property were dismissed but read into record.

He faces up to 40 years in prison at sentencing on January 24th.
