(Gazette photo)  The 30-year-old Milton man, shot in the face outside his home three weeks ago, has died.  Milton Police Chief Scott Marquardt says the death does not change anything related to the investigation.  A funeral home’s death notice states Zachary Barrett died November 6th at University Hospital in Madison.  Police say 21-year-old Jason P. Kraayvanger, who was staying at the house with the family, shot Barrett in what authorities say they can’t dispute his claims of self defense.  Investigators say the incident started with Barrett holding a gun to the head of his wife, Nicole, in a bedroom and later arming himself with a rifle, handgun and bullet-resistant vest.  Then, as Kraayvanger and Barrett spoke outside the house, Kraayvanger told police he feared for his life as Barrett pointed the rifle at him, so he grabbed Barrett’s handgun and shot him.  No one else witnessed the shooting.
