Janesville School Board supports teacher’s tax deduction

A portion of the tax bill being considered in Congress appears to concern the Janesville School Board. Vice President Cathy Myers says the board Wednesday voted unanimously on a resolution asking Congressman Paul Ryan and Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin not to eliminate the ability of teachers to deduct some of the materials they purchase for the classroom with their own money.  The Senate actually passed a tax bill doubling the amount teachers can deduct up to 500 dollars, while the House voted to eliminate it completely.
