A Rock County sheriff’s captain, who ran against his boss and lost in 2014, is planning another campaign. Gary Groelle is challenging Sheriff Robert Spoden. Groelle’s campaign announcement does not directly mention the recent investigation into Sheriff Spoden’s actions regarding an underage drinking party that involved his son. Groelle does say he would always represent and demonstrate professionalism, transparency, integrity and ethical behavior that the citizens of Rock County can be proud of. If elected, Groelle says his major issue would be to address the opioid epidemic currently affecting Rock County.
