Beloit’s Superintendent of Schools resigns

The Beloit School District may soon be in need of a new superintendent.  Dr. Tom Johnson has been ailing for quite some time.  In a letter to faculty and staff just weeks ago, Johnson expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and encouragement he’d received from the community.  The school board Wednesday night accepted Johnson’s resignation.  In the letter he cited a need to focus on his health.  Board President Laurie Endres says Dr. Johnson’s years of service to the district are greatly appreciated, and his dedication to quality education and compassion for every student and staff member will be missed.  Endres expects the board will begin the planning process to find a replacement when it meets in January.  She says for now they just want to acknowledge Johnson’s service.
