Janesville police are urging motorists to keep their cars locked. Sergeant Aaron Ellis says patrol officers have noticed an increase in auto thefts.  Ellis adds, close to half the cars stolen in Janesville over the last two months were left running while unattended.  Ellis says tips to prevent theft include locking the vehicle, never leaving it running unattended, keeping windows closed while parked, hiding valuables or expensive electronics from sight, and parking in well-lit, public areas whenever possible.
