Governor Scott Walker’s office narrows the list of applicants for the Rock County judicial vacancy from five down to four finalists.

A Spokesperson for the Governor says those finalists are Rock County Court Commissioner Thomas Kolpien, Rock County Assistant District Attorney Richard Sullivan, Department of Administration Gaming Division Administrator Jack Melvin, and Beloit civil attorney Derrick Grubb.

The other applicant who was not listed as a finalists was Janesville attorney Jennifer Nash.

The person selected by Walker will replace Judge Alan Bates who is retiring in August.

This will be the third time in recent memory that a Rock County Judge was appointed the governor rather than elected by the citizens.
