The Green County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Aviation Administration, and National Transportation Safety Board are working together in the investigation of a fatal plane crash near Monroe. The sheriff’s office says the 911 center got several calls Sunday just after noon from residents reporting a plane losing altitude and then crashing just north of the Monroe airport. Officials say the plane went down in an open field, but then crashed into a wooded area. First responders found the plane fully engulfed in flames. All four on board were killed. The female pilot was flying with her daughter and her two grandchildren.
