For the second time in less than two weeks, a citizen is credited with making first contact with a person having a mental crisis on a bridge.
Beloit Police Sergeant Ryan Flanagan says the latest incident occurred on the Portland Avenue bridge on Sunday.
A citizen who was driving over the bridge saw a person who appeared to be having a mental health crisis and called police to check on them.
Flanagan says the man eventually agreed to seek voluntary treatment at a local hospital.
On September 25th a passerby stopped a woman from jumping off of the Newark bridge in the town of Beloit.
