Milwaukee Street bridge project delayed even further

The high, fast moving water on the Rock River that is the result of an extremely wet September is causing the Milwaukee Street bridge construction to be delayed even more.
City Manager Mark Freitag says the project was originally supposed to be done in June but that date was moved to August, and then October.
Freitag says now the project isn’t expected to be done this year so the City is working with the Department of Transportation to try to get two of the four lanes on the new bridge open yet this fall.
The bridge contractor, Waukesha-based Zenith Tech is being fined more than $2000 a day for every day the bridge hasn’t been completed since August 15th.
