police-car-2

| By Big Radio News Staff |

Police investigate a social media threat against several local schools including Milton High School.

Local police say they learned of the online threat just before 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Milton Police say they’re looking at tips but they don’t know who posted the threat to social media.

Milton School District says in an an email to parents that a school resource officer and extra police will be patrolling school areas Monday.

The district says the threats are similar to ones seen in Minnesota last week. Authorities say those were mainly Tik Tok and Instagram posts. The incidents included shooting threats and apparent bomb threats.

The Minnesota incidents at first were thought to be so-called “swatting” — fake threats intended to draw a police SWAT team to a specific location.

Minneapolis police later took a 12-year-old girl into custody on suspicion of making last week’s threats.

Big Radio will continue to bring you details on this situation as we learn more.
