A Janesville man charged with bludgeoning a 21 year-old Edgerton woman to death makes an appearance in Rock County Court.

28-year-old Clayton Courtney was arrested May 4th after police say he tried to stab his roommate, Michael Clark to death. It was they next morning that they found Britney Cross' body near the Rock River.

At his preliminary hearing Monday Janesville Police Detective Mark Johnson testified that they found Cross' DNA on Courtney's clothing and under his fingernails.

Courtney was bound over for trial and remains held on a $500,000 cash bond. He'll be back in court August 6th.
