The governor's office receives four applications for the Rock County Coroner position.
One of the applicants is already doing the job on an interim basis, while the other three have tried for the job before.
Chief Deputy Coroner Lou Smit has been acting coroner since Jennifer Keach's left to take a nursing job on November 16th.
The other three to apply are Randy Abraham, Melissa Haverley and Christine Hawley.
Haverley and Hawley both served as chief deputy coroner and ran for the top job in 2006 and 2010, respectively. Abraham was a finalist for coroner when Keach was appointed in 2005.
A panel of law enforcement officials and staff from the governor's office will review the applications and send a list of finalists to Governor Walker, who will make the final decision.
Whoever is chosen will do the job until Keach's term ends in January 2015, at the time, the County will switch to a medical examiner appointed by the County Board of Supervisors.
