Heavy rains prompt flood concerns in Rock County

The Rock County Sheriff's Office is looking forward to a little drier weather after this week's heavy rains caused a number of flooding issues. Captain Gary Groelle says roads being monitored, and some have even been closed, include Highway 59 between Highway 138 and East Union Road. Highway 59 at Badfish Creek. South Carvers Rock Road from East Creek to East Larsen. Several sections of Highway 14 in the vicinity of Carvers Rock, Emerald Grove, and also between Evansville and Union. County X near Clinton also has a number of troublesome spots. As far as water levels. Turtle Creek at Clinton and Beloit is at flood stage. The Sugar River at Brodhead has some minor flooding. The Rock River at Afton is expected to reach flood stage by Sunday, and the Rock River at Lake Koshkonong is expected to reach minor flood stage next week. Groelle advises extreme caution when driving into areas of water, particularly if the roadway is unfamiliar.
