Rock County charity enjoys growing popularity

Keeping it local, appears to be part of the success, behind the growing popularity, of a fairly new Rock County based charity. Since it began in June of 2011, the Rock County Cancer Coalition has been grass roots. Coalition President Bruce Thoms is a little surprised by the groups growing popularity. Fundraising and education will both be goals for the organizations second annual "Walk for Hope." In its first two years, the Rock County Cancer Coalition has helped 129 residents suffering from cancer with 86-thousand dollars. They hope to add to the tally with Friday's fundraiser, featuring speakers, venders, and food. The event runs from 5:00 til 9:00 p.m. at Traxler Park in Janesville.
