The popular squash that has become the center piece of both Halloween and Thanksgiving celebrations may come with a higher price tag this year.
UW Extension Agriculture Agent Nick Baker says a cool and wet spring got the pumpkin crop off to a bad start.
Baker says while there should be plenty of pumpkins for carving on Halloween, there may be an increase in price, and possible shortages of the types of pumpkins used in pies.
Pumpkin crops are said to be down by about half this year, and the harvest concluded much earlier than normal.
