The owner of a $100,000 home would see a $20 a year increase on their property taxes under the preliminary budget approved by the Janesville Board of Education.
Commissioner Bill Sodemann was the sole "No" vote.
The Board of Education will hold a public hearing before approving the final budget and setting the property tax levy on October 27th.
