Phone scam involving bomb threat at Beloit Memorial Hospital

Beloit Memorial Hospital falls victim to a scam that's been working it's way around the country.

Beloit Police say just after noon Wednesday a middle eastern man made several phone calls to different phone numbers associated with the hospital at 1969 West Hart Road.

The man demanded that $1000 be sent to a building in Chicago, and when staff refused he claimed there was a bomb in the building.

Investigators say the phone call came from a phone number in Jamaica.

Officers met with officials at Beloit Memorial Hospital and determined that there was no danger to the public.

Similar scams have take place at locations around the country.
