The Janesville Police and Fire Commission votes unanimously to hire Batavia, Illinois Deputy Fire Chief Randall Banker to replace retiring Chief Jim Jensen on January 5th.
PFC Chair Michelle Vick says Banker's experience was what made him stand out against the other finalists which included Janesville Deputy Fire Chief James Ponkauskas.
Banker is originally from Edgerton and has been with the Batavia Fire Department for 26 years. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Banker's starting salary will be $105,000 a year.
