The Rock County Sheriff's Office joins in a regional effort to crack down on drunk driving. The Sheriff's Office is joining with Dane, Columbia, Iowa, Sauk, and Jefferson counties in sharing a $90-thousand traffic safety grant. Sheriff's Commander Troy Knudson is keenly aware of the problems caused by drunk driving. He says close to one-third of traffic crash fatalities involve alcohol. Knudson says the money will pay for overtime so officers can avoid being pulled away for other duties. The increased patrols are already underway and will continue through next September.
