Milton School Board fights referendum legislation

The Milton School Board is asking legislators to oppose a Republican-introduced bill enforcing a waiting period after a failed referendum.
Superintendent Tim Schigur says the measure is frustrating because the state has spoken numerous times about putting control back in local hands.  He says some districts might have to make major cuts because they couldn't wait the proposed two years.  The school board recently passed a resolution urging state representatives to oppose the bill which would also prevent districts from holding special elections for referendums.   Milton is currently surveying residents about the possibility of building a new high school and renovating buildings.
