Two run for Evansville mayor

The city of Evansville will have a mayoral race this spring.  City Council President Jim Brooks and newcomer Bill Hurtley have announced their candidacy.  Brooks says he's looking forward to leading as the city works to rebuild its streets, continues economic growth , and expands the library and parks.  Hurtley says the city needs to work harder at attracting commercial and industrial development to shift some of the property tax burden off the shoulders of homeowners.  The Evansville native owns the Ward Hurtley Funeral Home.  Long time Mayor Sandy Decker has already announced she doesn't plan to run for another term.
