Governor Scott Walker announces awards for seven freight rail improvement projects totaling more than $31 million in grants and loans.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation Railroad Program Specialist Rich Kedzior says over $9 million will go towards rehabilitating the line between Waukesha and Milton.
Kedzior says some portions of the track are more than 60 years old and were not designed to carry the load of today's trains.
The project is expected to wrap up in 2018.
