Janesville City Council decides on primary

With seven candidates seeking three open seats on the Janesville City Council, the decision on whether or not to hold a primary sits with the current council.

City Clerk Treasurer Dave Godek says any time the number of candidates is more than double the number of open seats, the council must decide whether it would like to hold a primary election.

Those running for the open council seats include newcomers Billy McCoy, Spencer Zimmerman, Steve Knox and Jens Jorgensen, along with incumbents Jim Farrell and Rich Gruber, and former council member Paul Williams.

The Council will make that decision at it's meeting at 6:00 Monday night.
