The School District of Janesville receives the preliminary results of the Badger Exam administered to grades three through eight.
Director of Instruction Kim Ehrhardt says the mandatory state test has already been scrapped, and students will take a different test this spring.
Preliminary results of the Badger Exam indicate that 50.7 percent of students were proficient or advanced in English Language Arts compared to 51.2 percent at the State level.
In mathematics, 37.4 percent of students were proficient compared to 43.7 percent at the State level.
Last year was the firs time that the ACT test was administered to all 11th graders.
Ehrhardrt says the preliminary results show that 37.4 percent of students were proficient or advanced in English Language Arts compared to 45.7 percent statewide, and in math 27 percent of students were proficient or advanced compared to 35.9 percent statewide.
