Humane Society uses $40,000 grant to tackle stray cats

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin is hoping to tackle the stray cat problem in two Janesville neighborhoods using a $40,000 grant.
The grant from the Petco Foundation will allow the Humane Society to offer free spay and neuter surgeries for pet cats in the Fourth Ward and Look West neighborhoods, where a quarter of all stray cats in Janesville come from.
The Humane Society will also partner with Community Cat, a local nonprofit specializing in helping outdoor cats, to Trap, Neuter and Return feral cats in these two neighborhoods.
The Humane Society is partnering with the Janesville Police Department to go door to door in Fourth Ward and Look West to spread the word about this new program and schedule appointments to spay, neuter, and vaccinate the pet cats in the neighborhood.
