Woman accused of stealing $300,000 from Janesville School District in court

A former Janesville School District employee accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Craig High School activities account makes her initial appearance in Rock County Court.
34-year-old Jessica Warner Reed is charged with misconduct in public office, theft over $10,000 in a business setting, 10 counts of forgery, and filing a false income tax return.
Court Commissioner Larry Barton set cash bail at $5000 Monday afternoon, noting Warner-Reed’s lack of criminal history and ties to the community.
The criminal complaint says that Warner Reed may have stolen more than $300,000 between 2006 and and June of last year, although the actual amount may never be known.
Warner Reed is due back in court for her preliminary hearing on February 16th.
