The City of Beloit is looking forward to reaping the benefits of an automated trash and recycling program.

Solid Waste Supervisor Jodine Saunders says the changes goes into affect this summer.

Saunders says by moving to an automated system, the City will reduce it’s carbon footprint, save on fuel, and reduce worker’s compensation claims.

Saunders says she’s hosting a series of presentations to inform the public about the changes to trash and recycling in person. There will be one Tuesday evening at 6:00 at the Beloit Public Library, and another at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Grinnell Hall Senior Center.
