If Interim Beloit Police Chief David Zibolski has his way, Rock will be the only other county other than Milwaukee to have a witness protection program.
Zibolski says over the past few months officers investigating violent crimes have found that some citizens are hesitant to cooperate with law enforcement because they are afraid of retaliation.
Zibolski is proposing something similar to Milwaukee County’s program where witnesses are relocated either temporarily or permanently, but unlike the federal program witnesses are not be given a new identity.
Zibolski says he’s still in the initial stages of gathering information before making a proposal to the Rock County Board.
