Several young women from the Janesville School District are being recognized for their talents in technology. Parker High School Senior Alesha Morovits is one of only 78 winners across the state for the National Center for Women and Information Technology Aspirations in Computing Award. Competition runner-up Sarah Gerarden says more women should be involved in computer science fields. Erin Seichter and Lavonne Sieling were also runner ups. Madeline Flynn was another of the state winners. Janesville Schools Advanced Placement Computer Science Teacher Bob Getka says the district takes Information Technology education for young women very serious. Winners had to demonstrate an aptitude, and leadership abilities in technology education.
