High winds cause a number of problems in southern Wisconsin.
According to the National Weather Service in Sullivan, highest gusts Wednesday were reported to be between 50 and 55 miles per hour with much of the area seeing steady winds between 30 and 45 miles per hour.
The Rock County 911 Communications Center says there was a handful of reports of downed trees, branches, and wires.
Around 3:00 in the afternoon a semi-trailer was blown over on Interstate I-39/90 north of highway 26.
An air traffic controller at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport indicated that pilots were choosing not to fly although the airport was open.
The wind also caused the City of Janesville to close down the sanitary landfill hours early at noon.
